Why MTN Dad?
While riding the ski lift with the kids the other day, I struck up a conversation with the man next to us. He mentioned that his son, similar in age to mine, wants to learn to ski. However, he hesitated, feeling the boy was too young for lessons and himself not skilled enough to teach. This got me thinking…
How many other parents hesitate to introduce their children to activities they love for fear of not being good enough instructors? This man, for example, was clearly capable! I observed him skiing confidently, surpassing the skills of many instructors I’ve worked with. Not only would he miss out on the joy of witnessing his son’s first snow-filled adventure, but also end up paying for potentially unnecessary lessons.
This is our message to you: Embark on that adventure! Sharing the experience with family adds excitement and fosters valuable bonding moments, something we all crave more of. So, go forth and adventure as a family!
What’s MTN Dad?
If you’re asking literally, it’s any Dad taking their kids out into the world to bond as a family. You’re probably a MTN Dad or want to become one. We are here to help you get started and find your next family adventure.
If you’re asking who I am, I’m just a regular MTN Dad. I grew up adventuring with my parents and siblings and I’m doing the same with my kids. I was a ski instructor for six years, during that time I became PSIA Certified and specialized in teaching children. I worked at an adventure summer camp while in high school where we taught rock climbing, navigation, archery, paddle boarding and rafting. I also spent some time as a white water rafting guide. My top priority when posting on this blog is to give you the safest way I know how to go on your family adventures.
